Still Happy With Your Timeshare?

We have read for the most part recently of the many customer complaints against timeshare. Facts and figures are there to stress the point. We have heard of big players in the industry halting timeshare developments primarily because they saw the lack of demand of such property in the economic downturn.

For a breath of fresh air, or to see the other side of the coin, let us visit how an online survey resulted more people are satisfied and even happy with having a timeshare. The study done this year had respondents coming from US alone. What resulted was different from the current trend. It showed that not at all are wishing to get rid of their timeshare and there are even more who wanted to purchase another timeshare.

In proving its validity, Interval International was the one conducting the survey among a sample of its US members derived from the database. There were no mentioned of how many percent of the total sample is from the total population. But what it did show is that Florida, California and Hawaii are the most popular destinations members said they wanted to visit within the next two years, with New York City the most popular urban destination. The survey is said to be an indication that the timeshare industry is recovering.

Another report pointing out towards the same timeshare industry’s recovery is released by Businesswire. Based on the report, the affirmation and Outlook revision by Starwood reflect the modestly improving recovery in lodging demand trends, Fitch's slightly improved macro-economic outlook over the past few months, management's continued efforts to support its balance sheet, the repositioning of its timeshare business, and the company's demonstrated willingness and ability to access the capital markets during difficult market conditions.

The report tells of how lower prices helped in improving the sales of timeshare. Starwood remains optimistic with this report stating how it was able to reduce its debt with $1 billion in 2009.

It is always a good thing to look at the two sides before formulating a judgment. It is up to you to judge which facts to believe in. In fact, it can be said that both sides can hold some truth to it. There are indeed people who still believed in timeshare but this does not dismiss the fact that there are numerous of people who want to get out of their timeshare properties.
